At 85k, I had a lower rod bearing come apart and ruined the motor. Rebuilt Delco motor installed costs 5k. At 80k, manifold gaskets had to be replaced since the so called 150000 mile coolant failed. This repair was about 1200 bucks. Many other failures that required lots of out-of-pocket expenses and time in the shop. Once the rebuilt motor is installed, it's history.

We bought this car new and every thing was fine until the warranty ran out. With about 32000+ miles the fuel pump went out, cost to repair over 900.00, break job on front 300.00 and I believe every seal and gasket has been replaced. The car was back in the shop 2 weeks ago two more leaky gaskets and a cracked serptine belt cost 261.00. All I can say is good by GM hello Subru

Favorite Features

Good riding car, heater, A/C and radio work good

Suggested Improvements

Switch to better gasket and seal material that hold up

Review

After four years and 55,000 miles not a single problem and this SUV is still a head turner. Now, I babied it for sure; garaged, oil changes, lube. But in return I've had nothing but good times in this truck. I'll trade in soon (I like to change every 3 years or so) and I only hope my next vehicle is as reliable and fun as the Blazer.

Favorite Features

The 4WD has been the most immpressive feature. I've been in over two feet of snow, up to the windows! and this thing just tore right through.

Suggested Improvements

Gas milage is not that great. A little more power from 50 to 70 mph would do the trick.

Review

I bought my '97 blazer used with less than thirty thousand miles, intending to put on One hudred thousand or more. I just can't seem to keep it out of the shop long enough to put the miles on it. I now have close to seventy thousand pampered miles and have over $4000 in repairs.... 1 complete rear end, a new set of lifters(under 50k), valve body in transmission, pulley on serpentine belt system and several other minor things that I can't recall. I am currently getting ready to install a new fuel pump and gas guage or amybe I'll just get another car.

Favorite Features

looks like a nice vehicle.

Review

I was concerned when purchasing because of the Consumer Reports below average reliability rating but the price was right so we went for it. Well five years later I'm happy to report that not one thing has gone wrong with my Blazer (other than the normal stuff brakes, battery, tires etc.) I change the oil every 3k miles and follow the suggested maintenance.

Favorite Features

Suggested Improvements

I like the newer body style much better, and now that they have the TrailBlazer EXT with 3rd row seat I think we'll be purchasing one as a replacement this year.
