The 1990-2001 S10 and Blazer ABS system is a poor design and the 1995 - 2001 ABS was improved over the 1989-1994 ABS system. With ABS brakes it is important to flush the brake fluid every 10,000 miles, including the ABS modulator. It takes special equipment and technical knowledge to flush the ABS modulator and unfortunately, most auto repair shops don't have the expertise to bleed the air out of the ... Read More
I have been having issues with my 1994 Chevy Blazer 5.7. I have had it tested by a shop and the codes that came up said my MAP sensor was having issues and it was running lean. I replaced the MAP sensor, EGR valve solenoid and it was no better. I was on the freeway the other day and my gas pedal sucked to the floor and the truck was accelerating. ... Read More
Bleeding ABS brakes is a sore spot on the Chevrolet S10 Blazers. Most auto repair shops give up trying to get the correct brake pedal travel after about 2 hours of foot pumping. The shop then will tell the customer that the ABS modulator is bad and needs to be replaced. The ABS modulator costs $700 for a rebuilt unit for the 1985 -1994 ABS brake systems. Rebuilt modulators are not ... Read More
new preformed brake lines

Having a autro repair shop bend straight tubing to fit your 1998 Blazer will be labor intensive and at $70 to $90 per hour, it would be serious money. The cost of the parts is nothing compared to the labor cost which is usually the case at auto repair shops. Except some of the electronic components that only take a few minutes to replace. It would be best to purchase preformed ... Read More
Hi - looks like a great community here - I just joined. I just bought a 1994 Chevy Blazer ... it has the Vortec engine which I heard is less common than the standard engine on that year and model. The engine is 4.3L and more powerful, and more gas guzzling I'm assuming. I have no experience with trucks (this is really like a jeep), and not that much experience with ... Read More
Vac lines all run off the PCV tap on the intake so follow them over to the drivers side and repair all rotted ones - 5/32" are smaller ones. Now if you smell gas then perhaps its the classic CPI and nut kit (fuel lines under the intake) that are leaking. Search that and see the post answers.
1994 chevy blazer vacuum leak?

My truck recently started running like all cylinders weren't firing. This happened before and salvage yard said it was a vacuum hose that was cracked. Any idea what name might be of this hose?
I just recently bought a 1994 Chevy Blazer and I'm having fuel pump problems. I was driving the other day and the car just died out without warning. I got it home and about 7 hours later the car started again but died out again. When I turn the ignition the car won't turn over. I'm guessing it's fuel pump problems or fuel injectors. Can anyone please tell me some signs ... Read More
Instrument Panel Bulb Replacement

My 1994 Chevy Blazer (S-10)'s instrument light has apparently burned out (don't know my speed, fuel level, etc). I don't believe it's the fuse, as the warning lights and sounds associated with the panel light fuse are working. The garage wants $75 to remove the dash. Is this a repair a do-it-yourself-er can manage? If so, what's the drill? Thanks
I have a 1994 4X4 Chevrolet Blazer, k-1500 model with a 8 cyl, 5.7L FI. Last 4 digits on the vin is 5190. There is a debate going on and it is with hopes i can get some help finding the real answer. The debate regards whether or not this vechile needs a special GM Lubricant when doing service on the rear differential? Or is a 90w80 penzoil good enough? I ... Read More
