I have had a very similar time with my 2009 Aveeo. It's a piece of crap. At 30,000 it needed $600 service. Now the transmission is going. I can't afford this car!! I'm totally upside down on the loan, the thing won't run, Chevy dealer is useless. Today it won't accelerate. You really probably should have it at least inspected. If the timing belt breaks while you're driving, it will just snap and leave you stranded, and may damage other parts in the process. You WON'T have any problems with it, until it breaks. Any qualified mechanic can look at it and see if it's showing signs of wear. It's one of those maintenance items that just isn't worth skipping.

This needs to be a recall ( You hear that Chevy!!!!!!) I had the same problem with my 2009 Aveo at 48,000. I have a scanner and found a misfire in cylender 4. The dealer threw a $300 price at me. My 2009 has about 8000 miles on it with no problems. This could be as simple as a loose battery cable. But since you say the battery "will not hold a charge", it might also be that you have left a door or a light on that is draining the battery. try replacing the spark plugs. the are installed by a machine and can break. My brother had similar problems with gas mileage on another make. Took it back to the dealer many times, only to be told there was nothing wrong. Finally changed plugs and gas mileage increased to normal expected range. Same here. I called Chevy to ask about availability for the 09 Aveo 5, and was told the same "build date" of May 26th. She seemed a little "in the dark" about the car but was determined to try to answer my question(s). She said around mid-July at the earliest but definitely by August 1st. I contacted Chevy and they said they won't start building the 2009 Aveo 5s until May 26th and it would be at least 6 or 7weeks (probably 8 weeks) after that (if there are no delays) before they are in dealers hands. So it looks like it will be mid July to the first of August before we see them.

My old 1988 Lemans (Daewoo) had the 1.6 SOHC engine which I know carried over for many year. I believe the current model is the same though it was beefed up block wise for durability and quietness not to mention the DOHC added. Is this next generation engine which claims to get 8% better mpg the same engine block now with just VVT added?
