Your engine should have a minimum of a 5-year/60,000 mile engine warranty if I recall. I believe it was changed to 10-years in the later 2007. The engine warranty covers alternators if I am not mistaken. The power train warranty that GM has is actually better than most as far as the parts covered.

I'm 41 live in the midwest and inherited a 2004 Chevy Aveo from my father when he go too old to drive safely. I also purchased a 2007 Aveo in January of this year (2007) They are both sedans and both have been problem free. The 2004 has 63K and the only thing ever done was a bushing replacment the dealer took care of - that's it! The 2007 has 6K ... Read More

I live in Orlando, FL. and purchased a 2006 Chevy Aveo Sedan with 43 miles on it and the basic 5 speed, A/C, rear defogger, and the premium stereo with a CD player. Got a great deal as I only paid $8400.00 compared to the $12000.00 sticker price due to it being a left over in the dealer's inventory in early 2007. I traded in a 2003 Cavalier (hunk of junk ... Hi, just bought a new Aveo 2007, any vibration problems to report? So far I have a strong vibration on the head rest when the car is idling (stopped at a traffic light for ex.) when I have the AC on, when I turn it off it's virtually gone, but there is still a very slight vibration. Also the AC motor seems to be pretty noisy. Also, when I'm driving over ... Read More
My NEW 2007 Aveo Hatchback with MAJOR ENGINE DEFECTS
Written by: kparks on Feb 21, 2007 8:39:57 PM
I bought my car new on November 14,2006....It is now February 21, 2007 and my car has been in the shop at the local Chevy dealer for 8 days now. It had been making a "ticking" sound when idling. The noise got louder when I accelerated. The car has 4,500 miles on it. Mostly highway miles. I drive 45 miles round trip each day on the interstate...to and from work. And ... Read More

new 2007 Chevrolet Aveo sedan. If the color was right and the wheels were right and I know the price is low, there's an outside chance I might take one for a spin and see how I like it. Not much of a chance but it does exist somewhere. I just would strike it off of my list totally if Chevy hadn't fixed the suspension problems. Nothing like a nagging problem ... Read More

sorry to hear of your Aveo's suspension problems. I was wondering if you knew anything about the new 2007 Chevrolet Aveo 4-door sedan. Is it pretty sound mechanically? Is the jury still out on it because it's so new? Does this new Aveo also come with built-in suspension problems? The car is not expensive and looks pretty attractive, if you choose the right color and some nice wheels. Do you like ... Read More
Edmunds.com just published a first drive of the 2007 Aveo LT sedan: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/FirstDrives/articleId=117227 There is one curious thing about this review I think. They go on and on about the lack of standard ABS, yet only one four-door in its class, the Fit, has ABS standard. It's optional on Accent GLS, Rio, Yaris, Versa, Spectra, and Forenza. It's even optional on more expensive cars like the new Sentra and the Corolla. ... Read More
2007 Aveo5 mpg. are: manual 27/37 vs. auto 26/34 2006 Aveo mpg. are: manual 26/35 vs. auto 24/34. I would think real world mileage for both years is at least 2-3 mpg. lower for both city and highway, which is still better than the 19 I am currently getting in my Subaru Outback that is a manual transmission.
Specs are here: http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/17/chevy-launches-2007-aveo-sedan/ The press release notes that the standard side torso airbags also provide head protection, something I did not know before (or maybe they were upgraded from '06). There are currently two major approaches to head protection: side curtain airbags which drop from the ceiling, and side torso airbags with an extension that also protects the front row heads. Integrating head and torso protection into side airbags (Ford ... Read More
http://www.euroncap.com/ EuroNCAP crash test for the Chevrolet Kalos 2006 (hatchback) is now available. Front crash test rates 6 out of minimum 13 for a modern car. This is only marginally better than the rating of only 3 for the 2007 Chevy Aveo Saloon.

The 2007 Chevy Aveo uses the same 8-year-old chassis (according to GM). One can clearly see this doesn't fare well for it's offset crash test results. Looks like GM\Daewoo still has a long way to go compared to market leaders Toyota Yaris and Honda Fit.

I don't follow your Fit/Accent price comparison. I did pricing on their websites last month, and the '06 Accent is $14,645 with Auto, Air, ABS, etc., but without power windows/locks. The '07 Fit is $15,200 with everything, including power windows/locks, plus whatever kooky stuff they made standard. Both of those prices include destination.

If you take everything into consideration, the Yaris may be the better buy. I learned myself not to only look at the initial price to get into a car -- I own a 2004 Aveo that has no resale value to speak of, dubious reliability and virtually no aftermarket parts available. Repairs are expensive and the dealerships are poorly trained and stocked. I believe the Yaris has a timing chain rather ... Read More

The NCAP test is indeed for the "redesigned" 2007 Aveo sedan. If one looks at the NCAP PDF and look at the picture for the 2007 aveo (just search 2007 chevrolet aveo on google), and you'll see it's the same car. Although they're similar, the new Aveo sedan is quite different in terms of length, width, etc. compared to the previous generation. So GM slipped the safety this time around. The ... Read More
Chevrolet Aveo: disastrous NCAP crash results

Before you buy this car be advised that it got only one and a half stars out of 5 in the European independent insurance front end crash test at 40 miles/hr. The test was so disastrous that the frame folded i.e. broke resulting in serious injuries to the driver. Based on these results certain GM importers in Europe have declined to import this car for sale. You can read more about ... Read More

Fully agree -- this car needs more development, not new sheetmetal over the weak engine and substandard suspension. Have 53K on my 2004 and I really don't know how long it'll hold out. Feels way too much like an older KIA. Have had several repairs already -- not huge items but it still costs hundreds to fix since most parts are only available through Chevy.
