    I know this is a bit late, but I think he drained the transmission fluid, not the oil. They both have drainage valves underneath the car. Hope this helps someone else searching for an answer :)

    I suggest that you get rid of that car, the more you keep it the more money you will lose on it. it happened with me> I've spent more 900$ on my 2006 Aveo 1.5 and it is not running properly and burning oil> The fuel economy on it is not good either comparing with the other cars of its size and engine.

    I set the parking brake when my car is parked on an incline. I would imagine that's a no brainer, so the dealership never even asked if I did it.     This won't matter at all and has nothing to do with it. You obviously will have stepped on the brake before you shift it out of park, especially when parked on a hill. At that point all the brakes are engaged, even more than if you had had the parking brake set (which only affects 2 out of 4 of the wheels).

    Just a guess... you usually don't set the parking brake? Automatic transmissions have parking pawls that engage when the car is in park. The pawl locks the driving wheels while in park. If you're on a grade, it's going to take more pressure to get the car out of park. I'm kind of surprised the dealership "did something" rather than remind you to set the parking brake, especially on a hill. ... Read More

    The response to the issue about the leaking valve cover gasket is not true. Oil will leak from area around the spark plug tubes and get inside the tubes partially filling the spark pug tube.     I agree, it sounds like they screwed something up alright. Firestone's are usually pretty good but it probably depends on the management. I do most of my auto maintenance myself.

    I was wondering the same thing. I bought a left over 2006 Aveo 5 speed manual. Trouble shifting as well. I called Chevy and they said that for the 1st 500 to 1500 miles the car is in 'training mode'. I am now at 1700 miles and all gears seem to be shifting better. :)

    2007 Aveo5 mpg. are: manual 27/37 vs. auto 26/34 2006 Aveo mpg. are: manual 26/35 vs. auto 24/34. I would think real world mileage for both years is at least 2-3 mpg. lower for both city and highway, which is still better than the 19 I am currently getting in my Subaru Outback that is a manual transmission.

    Seems like the only persistent "complaint" of sorts with the xA is that for some people the AC doesn't cool down fast enough on a really hot day.     You're still not buying American, but what-de-hey... the Aveo does seem to make people happier than the Suzuki Daewoos, I suspect it's because the car is simpler and Chevy has a stronger dealer organization.

    It's a 5-speed. I'm cheap, plus 5-speeds are more fun and it has a little more pep. Now I need to teach the wife how to drive it. As far as the 2006, you can build one on the chevy website, but when you try and locate one any zip code I use there isn't one within 100 miles. So who knows when it will arrive on the lots.

    just looks like the '05. That picture of the 2006 Chevy Aveo 4-door sedan that is being built in China evidently won't be making the boat trip over here to the States. Oh well-the old model is still a solid buy, IMO, with good, unique looks to it. It's heartening that it's built by Daewoo (under GM's control)and not by Chevy.

    Chevrolet has finally shifted over to the 2006 Aveo on their website. Go build one for yourself. Lots of new equipment/options: side air bags, cruise control, 15 inch alloy wheels, etc. Maybe some of these things can be retrofitted on previous models.     It sounds like some really good improvements. I like the optional 15" wheels, cruise, and side air bags. The cruise is a simple aftermarket option if needed. The arm rest doesn't really interest me. My last three vehicles, including my current Chevy S10, don't have arm rests, and I never missed it. Keep your hands on the steering wheel.
