2005 Chevrolet Aveo Hatchback LT 4dr Hatchback (1.6L 4cyl 5M)

Review

This car has been great! I drove an '03 Impala, which I miss, but the gas mileage is worth the down-grade. Since I bought my Aveo during the GM employee pricing, I got the LT version with all the toys for around $12,600, including a sun roof. I've been approached by several co-workers, and friends asking me about it. It's a fun car!

Best Features

I thought the 'ticket holder' was crazy at first, but it really does come in handy always being on the turnpike. It's also great to have heated mirrors on a car in this class.

Worst Features

Sometimes the key is hard to get in. It would be nice to have a dash-mounted ignition. Also, the radio/CD/MP3 is nice, but it lacks in power, would be nicer to have the full-sized GM Delco stereo in it. Cruise, automatic lights, remote-start, and being able to lock/unlock the driver's door only would

Review

This is a perfect little car if you're looking for something affordable, not too flashy, but still reliable. I have the manual transmission and although it was listed at 28 mpg in the city, I get 31 consistently and nearly 40 mpg on the highway. If it's lacking anything, it's top speed, but the speed limit is 75 anyway, right? If you don't feel like spending $17,000 just so you can say you drive a Civic, buy yourself an Aveo. It's every bit as fun to drive, versatile, roomy, and a lot cheaper.

Best Features

Roomy dash space, everything is very accessible. Hatchback is great to have.

Review

Not a great looking ride, nothing to show off or be proud of. But if you want a new car with payments that are easy to make, great gas mileage, and not a fortune to insure, this car is great. No complaints

Best Features

Interior is nice, carbon fiber attachments are very modern, mp3 capabilities are great

Worst Features

Well, i would say more power, but by giving this car more power it would ruin what makes this car work, the gas economy

Review

Small size, price, and fuel economy were driving factors as a replacement commuter pod with versatile storage. The 5-speed transmission has a little slack in shifting. The engine delivers 70-mph at 3000rpm in 5th gear. Mileage did not clear 31MPG after 5K miles. The passenger compartment is roomy and the console intuitive. The radio/CD runs surprisingly hot - I wouldn't leave a CD in for more than 90 minutes. The hatch area (manual independent lock) is not deep but can accomodate storage in laundry basket modules. The rear seat fold-down space works easily but the seats do not 'recess' and they cause a 6" 'step up' for the storage floor. Nice profile.

Best Features

No transmission fluid change; 7500 miles per oil change; small car has a surprisingly tall profile - don't feel 'small' on the road. I drive with a small, unused gas can to wave at the Hummers, SUVs, and pickups.

Worst Features

Support all-lock/unlock feature. Add a set speed feature when in 5th gear (highway). Choose a radio that runs much cooler.
