I have owned everything from Honda's (prelude) to Fords (Bronco) and Jeep (Grand cherokee). The Avalanche drives quiter than my best friends benz. Seems to be as reliable as any Honda product i have owned. It looks like Chevy has finally turned the corner on reliability. I am so happy that our next purchase is going to be the equinox.
Favorite Features
The quite ride and the undestructable inside. I have a 4 year old who puts it to the test on a regular basis.
Suggested Improvements
The "only" thing that i would change is better gas milage. Maybe better air flow to impove upon the 15mpg that i am averaging. Maybe some kind of system like dodge has were two of the cylenders shut down.
Just right

The Toyota and Ford lacked in power, The Dodge felt like a go-cart, The Avalanche felt like a SUV, but had the function of a truck and the room and comfort that only SUV's had. I was hell-bent on buying the New Ford F-150 but after one test drive I was hooked on the Avalanche, this is one decision I am glad I made, WOW what a truck.
Favorite Features
The covered storage, the removable back glass, the electronic towing package, 250 watt Bose system, electronic folding mirrors. To many features to list,

Purchased in July 2003, and I now have 6,500 miles on it. There have been zero problems with it. The only work needed was oil changes. Fuel economy here in a New England winter, short driving distances, runs about 10.5 mpg. Summer will take it up to 12.5. It is an exceptionally quiet vehicle, in terms of both interior and engine noise. The only complaint is that there should be more use of fabric instead of just plain plastic.
Favorite Features
Best features are the Bose sound system, quite ride, towing capacity. My boat weighs 8,200 lbs with trailer included, and the truck has no trouble with that weight when in "Tow Mode", and it has the optional oil and transmission cooler.
Suggested Improvements
Definately needs some sprucing up of the interior. Mine has the leather package which is the same color as all that plastic. It is just too much of no trim, no fabrics, no wood grain.
1 year and I still love this truck

Almost weekly I am reminded of why I bought this truck--versatility with comfort and plenty of passengar and storage room. We comfortably travel with a family of four and there is a ton of room to store bags, strollers, and the like. Fuel economy blows, especially when gas is like $1.75 and you have a 35 gallon tank, but I would recommend this truck to anyone who wants an SUV and the flexibility to haul things in a truck bed. Love it, Love it, Love it.
Favorite Features
Definitely the rear storage area. It is amazing how convenient and easy to use it is. Plus, converting it takes 90 seconds. Cake.
Suggested Improvements
Locking mechanism to keep the rear seats flipped up when the midgate is not down.

Bought my first one as soon as they came out here in FL. Liked it a lot and liked a black one with all the new 03' toys and traded for it. This is luxury and truck combined. Just wish it ran on hydrogen instead of gas.
Favorite Features
The body hardware rules, no lazy slobs in parking lots, door-dinging my prize ride! Heated seats, I thought when I bought my first one, who needs heated seats in FL? Well after a hard days work, what a therapuetic feeling it is.
Suggested Improvements
Gas mileage, gas mileage, gas mileage. Then it would be nice if the back seat could fold down in a 60/40 split so that another passenger could ride in a seat while hauling long cargo.

I did not consider the Avalanche when considering a truck. My daughter actually suggested I look at one and boy am I glad I did. This is a great multi-purpose vehicle and would recommend it to anyone looking for an SUV but wanting the versatility of a truck.
