First of all, the North Face Edition and the normal Z71 are identical off-road, as they're identical other than one having a special interior trim package. Second, 2003's. You can no longer order a 2002 model, but can go to your dealer and place an order for a 2003. Production starts in July and they should start showing up at the dealers in August. Many small changes have been made, especially ... Read More

Price Offer
Written by: beach15 on Mar 12, 2002 6:58:31 PM
Through GMBuypower, last night I emailed the dealer that had the Avalanche closest to what we want. As I've said before, it's a Z66 in Onyx Black with Graphite cloth and the bench seat. It also has in addition to the Z66, the Conveniance Package and White-Letter Tires. The sticker is $32,798. Here's the email from the dealer: "Thank you for using GM BuyPower. I am GM BuyPower/Internet Manager here at ... Read More

SUV are for Girlies
Written by: outdoorplaces on Jan 24, 2002 10:39:28 PM
Totally agree. That's why the Chevrolet Avalanche is Motor Trends 2002 Truck of the Year. That's why the Chevrolet Avalanche is the CANADIAN Press Association's Truck of the Year. Ouch, that's got to hurt. It has been my experience that most critics of the Avalanche cannot afford them. I believe they run around $45,000 Canadian. Of course we all know about the great automotive companies from Canada like....well and there is ... Read More

Let's Get Our Tundra Facts Straight
Written by: outdoorplaces on Jan 19, 2002 10:43:17 PM
OK folks - the Toyota Tundra hit showroom floors in May of 1999 as a 2000 model. This is a very common practice - case in point the Avalanche hit showroom floors in late May/early June also as a 2002 model. Wide availability of the Avalanche nationally didn't come until August of 2002. So if the Toyota Tundra became available in May of 1999 it has been on sale for two ... Read More

My thoughts on the 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche
Written by: jimboyng on Oct 6, 2001 12:12:23 AM
I just purchased a metallic blue Avalanche fully loaded and would like to post a few comments. I am happy overall with the style and performance, but the price is a little high, around 38, but with 4.9 financing the payments are not that bad, course I am single and live with my grandparents. I traded my 2000 Silverado 1500 4x4 ext cab to purchase the Avalanche and have noticed some ... Read More

I do not know if it is a quality issue related to water in the bed. The system is designed to move water away from the cargo mat, not eliminate it. Here is a reference from the GM list of TSB's for the avalanche: Chevrolet Avalanche Cargo Area 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche The Chevrolet Avalanche is designed to give customers unrivaled flexibility. Avalanche delivers on that promise through the many unique and ... Read More

Avalanche Bulletin

I was looking at the GM Techline site and saw this bulletin... 08-Body and Accessories 01-08-66-006; Chevrolet Avalanche Cargo Area; 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche Anyone with a clue to what this might mean? (weather striping?) I also noticed my AV is lower by about 3/4" on the drivers side. Real evident when looking at the front of the vehicle...leans to the driver side! I was just looking for a link that shows GM sales figures. Wanted a guage on how the AV is selling vs. expectations. I got an email from the AV spokesman. I asked if there were any planned "changes" for the AV..see below Brad, As you know, the 2002 Chevy Avalanche is just being launched as we speak. We do not have any plans to make the side cladding body color. ... Read More

Decided no on AV, too
Written by: tavgrad on Jul 30, 2001 8:19:08 AM
I agree with wlm26's post. Why didn't they just make a suburban/yukon xl with the bed? The caddy escalade ext looks like an escalade with the back chopped. I'm sorry folks, but the grey cladding is just too much. On my way to work this morning, I saw a truck pulling 6 avalanches, six colors. Cannot get over the grey. It's not a dark gray. It's bright grey! I saw one ... Read More

GM Truck Show - Part 5 - Notes & Pricing
Written by: mount1 on May 21, 2001 8:46:44 PM
According to the GM people at the show, the Avalanche is not available w/o the molding. I also agree w/ prior post that under the fender molds the metal is either pulled back away from the door line or it is just some sub-structure under there. The colors at the show were blue, silver, green - all molding was grey - seems to fit the silver the best. Dealer has black ... Read More

Watched the Chicano Auto Show on Speed vision tonight. Great piece on 4-door trucks, but..... no news or coverage on the Avalanche?!!! Showed the Cadillac Escapade and the Lincoln Black wood but best of all showed the new 2002 Dodge Ram with 4 doors and shortened bed option. Very impressive looking truck!! Since Chevy is slow getting out the Avalanche and only has so-so looks in the pictures, I just may ... Read More

From AutomotiveNews.com... CHEVROLET AVALANCHE Chevrolet’s new four-door sport-utility/pickup debuts at the beginning of 2001 calendar year as a 2002 model. The truck’s base engine is the 5.3-liter Vortec V-8. The cargo box is 5 feet 3 inches long. But open a door on the back of the cab, and the cargo area stretches into the passenger compartment and provides an 8-foot-1-inch cargo area. The Avalanche sets the styling cues for Chevrolet’s ...
