  • 2002 Avalanche transmission problems

Written by: mcres on Jun 13, 2011 12:37:44 PM

After I sent this letter to GM's Dan Akerson to tell him about the engineering design defects in Avalance transmissions, I was told that GM has no records of transmission problems with its Avalanche truck. I had to pay for the installation of a new transmission that was manufactured with upgrades to remove design flaws in the factory transmission. Thank goodness I did not pay for a brand new Avalanche because ... Read More

She didn't have any suggestions, but just asked if I was towing something at the time and other questions to which the answer was no. I decided to take my Avalanche to the Chevrolet dealer from whom I had purchased my vehicle the next morning to have it checked ... Read More

When my truck reaches 70 mph it starts making a flapping noise by the drivers side windshield door frame brace. At first thought at first that the front windshield might not be sealed tight but it was checked out and alright. I also checked the black rubber strip that covers the hood bracket bolts. Again this was not the problem. The noise is not coming from the door weatherstrip. The sound ... Read More

The 1st Avalanches off the line were base priced $720 less than they are know. At some point they were raised $220 and then a month or 2 ago raised the other $500. We have a 2002 Avalanche 2wd Z66 and haven't yet had experience in snow or other poor conditions, but from all that I've read and seen on the Chevy Avalanche Fan Club forum, current 02's with traction control alone do quite well in such conditions. It's actually one of those times that unless you really want it or are going far off-road, 4wd just isn't needed. So why bother carrying around ... Read More

Car Seats - I don’t believe the truck has the third attachment point behind the seat yet. DVD/VCR - Optional in 2003; you'll have to go with an aftermarket system for 2002 (easy to install).
