My rear ac doesn't work on the van. I was told it was the rear ac switch that needs replaced but I do not know where it is located.
If you still have that diagram for the vac hose could you please send it to me via email
I would also like a copy of that diagram. Is it possible that you could send me a copy of it as well? Thanks for all you help on this topic. send to: bbeckwith@shaw.ca
Hi ohmickey63, Just post your email address for me and I will email you the vacuum diagram and the information on how to fix the problem.
I'm having same fan thru defrost vents only problem with my Astro van. Could you maybe help me out as well? Thanks so much.
Could you please e-mail me the vacuum diagram at andyctc@charter.net
Could you please forward that vacuum hose diagram to ddelapaz@earthlink.net Thanks in advance.
bdar- I have a 2004 chevy astro with the same problem. The hvac is stuck on distributing air through the defrost. It changes the type of air output (max ac, ac, vent air) but won't move the flaps to change the output direction. If you could e-mail the solution to me that would be great... babcock.tony at gmail.com
Thank you for sending the drawing and for taking the time to detail the repair. Very helpful and very appreciated!
Can someone please email me the diagram also. This has been an ongoing issue with my 2000 GMC Safari as well. Please help. rubalcavaaa@yahoo.com.
Hi Mike. I will forward the information to your email address. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner yesterday!
Hello, I feel like a bit of an eavesdropper, but I am having an identical problem with my 2001 Chevy Astro van (AC only blows thru defrost and "Max AC" setting blows same as normal "AC" setting). This is after being charged $1600.00 for a new AC system. No, I will never use that mechanic again, I swear. Do you still have a diagram of the vacuum system? If so, could ... Read More
Hi Rednekwizard, I wanted to say THANK ~YOU for the very valuable information you had sent me via email to my posting on a vacuum system problem with my 2005 Chevy Astro van yesterday. Hi rednekwizard, I actually have a vacuum diagram for a 97 Chevy Astro. It should be about the same for the 2000 Astro Van. You can actually get it at the dealer. If you go to any Chevy Dealer and go to the Parts Department, they will usually print out any diagram that you need for free. I can send it to you if you give me your email address. So ... Read More
Can anyone tell me where to find a vacuum hose diagram for a 2000 chevy astro, had the same issues with the vacuum lines and replaced all of them from some vacuum scrap I had from rebuilding my camaro and also I need a part number for the rotary wheel that controls the rear ac/heat.
Sounds like you have lost ground from the firewall to the engine ! This will cause the problems you are experiencing ! You could try to install a ground wire from the motor block to the firewall !
I'm having the same problem with my 2000 Astro. It's been doing it for maybe two years and hasn't affected driving performance. However, now the security light is staying on and I'm worried about problems with inspections. Please share your thoughts! Tim
2000 Chevy Astro cargo 170k+ runs great but everyday while driving my gas guage needle, charge needle, temperature needle show a false reading also everything that can light up such as abs, security, etc. lights up like a Christmas tree does not effect the performance of the vehicle any ideas?
Thanks for your concern.... For your records, there's a known problem with the ABS system on the Astro/Safari vans. There's an official TSB but NO recall. Still amazes me why no formal recall. For details.... Bottom line is... Defector sensor (which needs to be replaced) or the existing sensor is too "rusted up" to work properly... ----------------- .... Basically, dirty sensor mounting surfaces cause the signal to drop out at low ... Read More

On my 2000 Safari it was a bad turn signal switch. Replaced it and all the problems went away. I am not kidding that was the problem. if your turn signal is acting up I would look at this as the problem. My van has run without any problems now for a year now. Who would have thought that this would cause the problem.
I had the same problem in my 2000 chevy astro. Drove around for a year in high temps before I got it fixed. Meineke fixed it. It was a vacuum leak and cost about $72 to fix. I was expecting a lot more.
I've got a 2000 Chevy Astro (panel) van, just bought it used. I have a similar problem with my 2000 Chevy Astro van. What I found to be the problem was a broken door jam switch on my sliding door. It's the spring loaded plastic thing that the door pushes in when you close the sliding door. Hopefully, your problem won't be any more complex than this. Whatever the outcome, keep us posted. These are great vans. Mine has 134,000 miles on it. ... Read More

I had the same problem with my 2000 Safari, 80,000 mi. It was a vacuum line under the hood, found by a freind in 2 minutes. The line goes from the AC vacuum collection tank (a black plastic ball-shaped thing down below the AC) to the intake manifold. It wore through up near the carburator, they should put some kind of protection on it. Reconnected and it's fine now.
Mine sticks form idle when I press the accelerator pedal. In other words you have to push it hard then it releases, and lurches forward some. I read in one of these forums that it is in the throttle body. I've read that others have this problem. You may have to get a lawyer to get your records.
Maybe you can have the records supeanod. Good luck

2000 Chevy Astro Van. Driver side door handle just broke at the top hinge. Easy to replace myself? Will removing door panel give easy access for replacement? I know if I go thru dealer, they'll charge me plenty, although the window motor needs replacing too.

thanks for the reply. I have been asking hard questions on Edmunds for a few years now. My other Chevy is an 02 Trailblazer. The question of an extended warranty on that car was a no brainer.
