The Ford Explorer Ecoboost features a turbocharged four-cylinder for those who want slightly better fuel economy than the standard V6. But what type of performance can you expect from a four-cylinder in a large crossover SUV? To find out, we brought our long-term Explorer Ecoboost to the Edmunds.com test track. Acceleration was tested with 0-60 and quarter-mile tests, while braking was calculated using 60-0. Handling tests included a timed slalom and two trips around a skid pad to generate a lateral acceleration calculation.
