    I live in NYC (Queens) and there are Jeep Grand Cherokee's everywhere (I own one also). I've probably only ever seen a handful of Tesla's actually on the road in NY. When I was in LA this past August, I think I saw about 20 Tesla's a day.

    I'm a Takahashi fan but what's he talking about saying he wouldn't do mods or buy a modded car because "OEM's know more about the cars than anyone". While this is true, they also have to build cars to a price point and also have to make compromises to maximize the appeal of the car. Not too many cars can't benefit from a set of Koni yellow shocks, Carbotech pads, or an Audison amp. If he means the rolling monstrosities that are most SEMA cars, sure, but it didn't seem like it...

    Boff, there are exceptions to every rule. On a personal level, I think most mods are completely unnecessary. I always advise drivers to work on their skills behind the wheel before making any changes to a car. Spend the money on a good racing school first, then find out where the weak links are in your ride. Odds are, it'll be tires and brakes. Armed with the kind of knowledge you get from Barber or Bondurant, you'll be passing modded cars with your stock vehicle with ease. It's really quite gratifying.
