MONACO — The Volkswagen Polo R WRC racecar was launched last weekend, along with the 2013 Volkswagen Polo R WRC, a road-going version that is set to go on sale in Europe late next year.
The Volkswagen Polo R WRC racecar is equipped with a 300-horsepower 1.6-liter TSI four-cylinder engine linked to a six-speed sequential transmission.
The Polo R WRC racecar gets a custom aerodynamic body kit and a stripped interior to help cut down on weight.
The limited-edition production Polo R WRC is priced at the U.S. equivalent of $33,900 and features a white exterior paint treatment and blue-and-gray stripes.
The first round of the WRC will be the Monte Carlo Rally on January 15.
