TOKYO — Subaru will debut a new BRZ Premium Sport Package Concept at the 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon.
Organized by Subaru Tecnica International (STI), Subaru's performance division in Japan, Subaru's exhibits will center around three core models, the BRZ sports coupe, the new Forester SUV and the XV crossover.
The headliner will be the BRZ Premium Sport Package Concept, an upscale vision of Subaru's hit rear-drive coupe fitted with a mass of trick prototype parts including a carbon roof, tan leather seats, 19-inch BBS alloys and black-colored door mirrors and fender garnish.
There is no word yet on engine upgrades but the concept does at least get an STI sports muffler to help accentuate that characteristic "Boxer" engine sound.
The Forester Sport Concept and XV Sport Concept are similarly dressed up with STI spoilers and further interesting parts out of the aftermarket catalog.
For techies, one thing to watch out for on the stand is a cutaway model of the next-generation Subaru Boxer engine with Toyota's D-4S technology included.
Central to the Subaru cause is still the company's long lived, horizontally opposed "Boxer" engine and as usual at the Tokyo auto salon, the stand is based around the theme of "Proud of Boxer."
Edmunds says: We like the sound of Subaru's BRZ Premium Sport Package Concept, but will it ever be built?
