ATLANTA — Porsche is going after younger customers by introducing its most green product to date, even more so than the 2014 Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid that goes on sale later this year.
Despite missing an engine and running on old-fashioned foot pedal-power, the Porsche Go-Kart should be the star at any playground. Priced at $900, the pint-sized Porsche is $844,100 less than the 2014 Porsche 918 Spyder and $99,075 less than the 2014 Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid.
The Porsche Go-Kart is a high-end toy. Many of its competitors cost hundreds of dollars less. The L'il Rider Black Stealth Pedal Power Go-Kart is priced at $100 at Toys R Us, for example.
The Porsche Go-Kart features composite wheel rims with simulated center locks and low-profile, inflatable tires with inner tubes. Other equipment includes a sport seat, plus both a back-pedal brake and a handbrake which ensure optimal deceleration. The driver may pedal both forward and backwards.
The seat accommodates children ages 5 and up, with a maximum riding weight of 110 pounds.
The Go-Kart, the latest addition to the Porsche Driver's Selection line of branded products, is sold through participating Porsche dealerships.
Edmunds says: Porsche has discovered the key to a lifelong love of sports cars: start 'em early.
