DETROIT — The Lexus LF-LC concept has been approved for production, according to Ward's Auto.

A Lexus spokesman told Edmunds on Friday that he could not confirm the report.

"I cannot confirm at this time, other than to say that it is currently under study," wrote Michael Kroll, national communications manager for Lexus, in response to an e-mailed query.

Lexus unveiled the LF-LC hybrid sports car concept at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. An updated version, the LF-LC Blue concept, was introduced last fall at the 2012 Sydney Auto Show.

Edmunds says: No official word yet on the fate of the Lexus LF-LC.
