DETROIT General Motors is recalling 490,200 full-size trucks and SUVs in the U.S., including the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, because of a possible fire risk, the automaker said on Friday.

The recall also includes the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup truck and 2015 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL SUVs equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission.

GM said it is aware of three fires and no injuries linked to the recall.

"GM has determined that these vehicles may have a transmission oil cooler line that is not securely seated in its fitting," the automaker said in a statement provided to Edmunds. "If the line is not securely seated and transmission oil leaks from the fitting, the oil could contact a hot surface and result in a vehicle fire."

No information about the recall has been posted on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees vehicle recalls in the U.S.

GM dealers will inspect the fittings for leaks. The recall is expected to begin on April 28.

Owners can contact GM at 1-800-222-1020.

Edmunds says: The recall does not begin for almost a month, so if you have any immediate concerns, contact your dealer.

A new GM SUV...$40,000. Leaky transmission fluid line fix... $0.00 Cost of a lawsuit after someone dies from leak... Priceless. >> Probably won't try the same crap they pulled with the ignition switch deal. That one is gonna cost a ton.

I find it funny that these notices keep talking about "vehicles equipped with 6-speed automatic transmissions", they are ALL equipped with that transmission... Nothing else is offered.. So I guess that means they are ALL recalled...
