Ford To Launch 16 Vehicles in North America in 2014

DEARBORN, Michigan — Ford will launch 16 vehicles in North America in 2014, including the 2015 Ford Mustang, Ford Transit Connect, Ford Transit and Lincoln MKC, the automaker said on Thursday.

"We saw unprecedented growth in the Unites States this year, especially in the midsize and utility segments," said Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of the Americas, in a statement.

Production of the Ford Transit will begin in the second quarter of 2014 at Ford's newly retooled Kansas City Assembly Plant.

Ford plans to add more than 5,000 new jobs in the U.S. in 2014.

The automaker will also add two plants in Asia Pacific and one in South America and launch 23 vehicles globally.

"Next year, we are embarking on our most ambitious global launch year ever to meet customer demand for our products around the world," said Raj Nair, group vice president of Ford global product development.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers should expect lots of activity in Ford showrooms in the coming year.
