FastPitch Contest Extends Entry Deadline

LOS ANGELES — The entry deadline for the Connected Car Expo's FastPitch contest has been extended to October 14. The contest is part of the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Contest organizers say they have already received 75 entries for the FastPitch competition.
Submissions range from unique navigation tools to "some amazing uses of big data to manage traffic and improve fuel economy," wrote Brendan Flynn, Connect Car Expo's senior director of marketing and communications, in response to an e-mailed query. "At the request of some applicants, we have extended the submission deadline to October 14."
Eight semifinalists will be announced on October 16. The 1st-place winner will be awarded a Splunk Start Program Enterprise License.
Participants can tackle any current issue affecting the auto industry, including automotive data, mapping, emissions, environmental issues, in-car apps, in-car entertainment, parking and telematics.
The competition is organized to showcase inventors defining new mobility while connecting them to the auto industry's top decision makers.
One of the competition's judges is Philip Potloff, executive vice president and CIO at Edmunds.com.
