DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — The Dubai police will fight crime with the Lamborghini Aventador, the force announced on its Twitter feed.

The special Aventadors, done up in green-and-white livery, are said to cost more than $500,000 each. The showy police cars stand in stark contrast to the rides of most American police forces, such as the more modest 2013 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle and Dodge Charger Pursuit.

The Lamborghini Aventador is equipped with a 691-horsepower 6.5-liter V12 engine. In comparison, the Caprice PPV gets a base 301-hp 3.6-liter V6.

The Aventadors will be on patrol in tourist areas in Dubai, a city known for the world's tallest building and some of the largest shopping malls on the globe. The United Arab Emirates are well known for their love of exotic cars. Abu Dhabi is also home to Ferrari's first theme park.

Edmunds says: Leave it to Dubai to one-up every other police department on the planet.
