DETROIT — GM and Disney on Friday showed off the redesigned Test Track attraction by Chevrolet at Walt Disney World Epcot.
The new attraction opens on December 6.
Highlights include a thrill ride where guests can test-drive vehicles they have designed.
Each guest's vehicle design will be evaluated and scored based on how well their design "balances the core attributes," said GM in a statement. The vehicles can also be raced over changing terrain and extreme conditions.
"At Chevrolet, the diversity of talent on our team allows us to consistently produce sophisticated, refined and detailed design — but we don't typically design through the eyes of a 12-year-old," said Jeff Mylenek, GM Design manager, Global Exhibit and Merchandising Design, in a statement. "Working with Walt Disney Imagineering, we were inspired to see our brand story from a more youthful perspective."
The attraction also provides a glimpse "into the future of Chevrolet design," said GM. A large social media component of the attraction gives GM and Disney a chance to spread their brand message far beyond the confines of the park.
Edmunds says: The thinking is if you can win over a 12-year-old with a high-tech thrill ride, he'll be back to buy a Chevy when he grows up.
