CHERRY HILL, New Jersey — The redesigned 2015 Subaru Outback wagon will be unveiled on April 17 at the 2014 New York Auto Show, Subaru of America said on Thursday.

The 2015 Outback will arrive at dealerships this summer. Pricing was not announced.

The company said that the current model is the best-selling Outback to date. Outback sales in the U.S. have more than doubled since 2005.

Along with the 2015 Subaru Legacy, the Outback will be among the Subaru models to offer the improved version of the automaker's EyeSight driver-assistance system. The system helps the driver to avoid crashes.

The improved system gets color cameras with a longer and wider detection range for spotting obstacles and brake-light detection. Subaru said the system can now function when the speed differential between the EyeSight-equipped car and another vehicle is up to 30 mph. Before, it operated when the speed differential was 19 mph.

Competitors to the Outback include the 2014 Ford Escape, GMC Terrain and Toyota Highlander.

The 2015 Subaru Legacy, which is mechanically related to the Outback, debuted at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show.

Edmunds says: The upcoming version of the Outback should appeal to even more potential buyers.
