TORRANCE, California — Toyota is recalling approximately 10,000 vehicles in the U.S., including the 2014 Toyota Corolla, to replace the wiper switch, Toyota said on Thursday.

The other vehicles include the 2013-'14 Toyota Camry, Camry Hybrid, 2013 Toyota Avalon and Avalon Hybrid.

Cindy Knight, a Toyota spokeswoman, told Edmunds that no accidents or injuries have been linked to the recall.

"During manufacture of the wiper switch assembly in the involved vehicles, certain contacts on the switch terminal could have been manufactured incorrectly," said Toyota Motor Sales USA in a statement. "This could lead to a potential short if the wiper is moved from OFF to the MIST setting. A short can cause the windshield wipers to become inoperative."

Knight said she did not know when the recall will begin.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by first class mail to return their vehicles to a Toyota dealer for replacement of the wiper switch. They can contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.

No information about the recall has been posted on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. No updated recall information is being posted there during the government shutdown.

Edmunds says: If you own one of these vehicles and your windshield wipers are not working, take the car to the dealership immediately.
