AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — The base 2014 SRT Viper starts at $103,990, including a $1,995 destination charge and a $2,600 gas-guzzler tax, Chrysler told Edmunds on Monday.

The 2014 SRT Viper can be ordered now, with production set to begin in less than two weeks, said Dianna Gutierrez, a Chrysler spokeswoman.

The 2013 SRT Viper starts at $100,990, including a $1,995 destination charge and a $1,600 gas-guzzler tax.

Gutierrez said the $1,000 increase in the Viper's gas-guzzler tax went into effect recently. Chrysler has not announced pricing on the 2014 SRT Viper TA.

The Viper TA — short for Time Attack — is a spec-package designed for extreme performance in a special track-focused handling package. Only 33 units in special "TA Orange" exterior paint will be produced beginning in the third quarter of 2013.

Gutierrez said the price increase on the base model covers some additional standard equipment, including HD Radio with navigation and Uconnect; a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, including two subwoofers and the ParkView back-up camera.

In comparison, the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray coupe starts at $51,995, including a $995 destination charge.

Edmunds says: The key question is just how much the price of the 2014 SRT Viper TA will jump compared to the base model.
