2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG Teased in Driveclub Video Game
- The 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45, which debuts at the 2013 New York Auto Show, is being teased in a new video game called Driveclub.
- Driveclub is a new racing game developed for the Sony PlayStation 4 by Evolution Studios.
- The game includes the CLA45 AMG and the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG.
Daimler on Thursday said the CLA45 AMG will be equipped with a turbocharged AMG 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine generating 360 horsepower. The automaker notes the AMG-developed unit is the most powerful four-cylinder engine in series production. The CLA45 AMG will come standard with the AMG 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.
Driveclub is a new racing game developed for the Sony PlayStation 4 by Evolution Studios. The game will launch at the end of 2013. It will take advantage of the new console's upgraded graphics, controller and movement-sensing peripheral.
The game includes the CLA45 AMG and the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG. The A45 AMG is set for a debut at the 2013 Geneva Auto Show. Daimler said "further vehicles with the three-pointed star will join Driveclub."
Driveclub is described as a networked game to be played in real clubs, encouraging players to team up and collaborate and compete with one another "while experiencing the thrill of driving the best cars in the world, on the best roads in the world," according to Daimler.
Mercedes-Benz earlier confirmed for Edmunds that the CLA45 AMG will go on sale in the U.S. in late 2013. The CLA45 AMG's debut in U.S. showrooms will be a few months after the arrival of the base CLA in September.
Pricing has not been announced, but the CLA45 AMG is expected to be more expensive than the base CLA, which starts at $30,825, including a $925 destination charge.
Edmunds says: Driveclub promises a visceral feel, much like driving the real 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG.
