Just the Facts:
  • The entry-level 2014 Kia Sportage starts at $22,450, reflecting a $2,600 price increase over the base 2013 Kia Sportage.
  • Kia Motors America eliminated the Sportage Base model from the lineup and now has just three trim levels for the 2014 model year.

IRVINE, California — The entry-level 2014 Kia Sportage starts at $22,450, including an $850 destination charge, reflecting a $2,600 price increase over the base 2013 Kia Sportage.

Kia Motors America eliminated the Sportage Base model from the lineup and now has just three trim levels for the 2014 model year. That elimination accounts for the inflated base sticker price. The 2013 Kia Sportage Base starts at $19,850, including an $850 destination charge.

The top-of-the-line 2014 Sportage SX with all-wheel drive starts at $29,250, including shipping.

The 2014 Sportage is a carryover model. A tilt and telescopic steering wheel is now standard across all trims. The 2014 Sportage also gets standard high-performance dampers across all trim levels. The dampers were previously only on EX and SX models.

Edmunds says: It will cost more for car shoppers to get into the 2014 Kia Sportage, but they should be aware that the starting price is still cheaper than the 2014 Honda CR-V, a chief competitor.
