IRVINE, California — The redesigned 2014 Kia Soul starts at $15,495, including a $795 destination charge, reflecting a $295 price increase over the outgoing model. The 2014 Soul goes on sale in the fourth quarter of this year.

The redesigned Soul debuted at the 2013 New York Auto Show.

The 2014 Soul Base comes with privacy glass and Hill-Start Assist Control.

The midrange 2014 Kia Soul Plus starts at $18,995, including shipping. It adds 17-inch alloy wheels, gloss black with chrome bezel front upper grille and outside mirrors with turn signal indicators.

The top-of-the-line 2014 Kia Soul Exclaim starts at $21,095, including shipping. It adds 18-inch alloy wheels, body-colored front and rear bumper tusks, LED positioning lights, LED taillights with LED high-mounted stop light, power-folding outside mirrors, Uvo with eServices and a rear-camera display.

The 2014 Kia Soul can be decked out with a number of options packages, including a $400 ECO package that includes the fuel-saving Idle Stop and Go system.

Other 2014 options packages include a $3,000 Primo package that adds a number of items, including a panoramic sunroof, leather trim seats and a 10-way power driver seat. A $2,600 Sun and Sound package adds a navigation systems, Infinity audio system, speaker lights, automatic temperature control and panoramic sunroof.

The 2013 Kia Soul starts at $15,200, including an $800 destination charge.

The 2014 Kia Soul undercuts a chief Japanese competitor, the 2013 Nissan Cube. The 2013 Cube starts at $17,570. Nissan has not announced 2014 Cube pricing.

The 2014 Kia Soul also undercuts the 2013 Scion xD, another rival. The 2013 Scion xD starts at $16,500. Toyota has not announced 2014 xD pricing.

Edmunds says: The sticker price on the 2014 Kia Soul inflates a bit, but still holds up well against the competition.
