COSTA MESA, California — The base 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport starts at $25,605, including an $855 destination charge, reflecting a $50 price increase over the 2013 model, according to Hyundai Motor America.

But the top-of-the-line 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0T with a saddle interior and all-wheel drive starts at $33,055, reflecting a $2,500 price increase over the 2013 model.

The midlevel 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0T with front-wheel drive starts at $31,305, including shipping. It also gets a $2,500 price increase over the 2013 model.

The 2014 Santa Fe Sport is a carryover model. Modest upgrades for the new model year include an optional blind spot detection system on all trim levels and a rear parking assistance system available on technology packages. The 2.0T Technology package is priced at $4,350.

In 2012, the Hyundai Santa Fe was only available with five seats. For 2013, the five-seat model was renamed the Santa Fe Sport, while the Santa Fe name is reserved for a stretched-wheelbase model that seats up to seven passengers.

Hyundai has not announced pricing on the 2014 Santa Fe.

The 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is more expensive than one of its chief Japanese competitors, the 2014 Honda CR-V. The 2014 Honda CR-V starts at $23,775, including an $830 destination charge.

The Korean crossover is more expensive than the 2014 Ford Escape, too. The 2014 Ford Escape S FWD starts at $23,595, including an $895 destination charge.

Edmunds says: While the base 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport gets a minor price increase, you'll pay significantly more for uplevel models.
