SEOUL, South Korea — A face-lifted version of the Hyundai Equus was unveiled in South Korea, previewing what the 2014 Hyundai Equus will look like when it arrives in the U.S. next year.

A Hyundai Motor America insider told Edmunds that some changes to the Equus will be reflected in the U.S. version in 2013.

The mild redesign includes less chrome on the front end, as well as redesigned wheels. Hyundai's official statement on the Equus for the home market did not address media speculation that the flagship sedan will be equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission. A 10-speed transmission would provide fuel economy and performance improvements.

The 2013 Hyundai Equus in the U.S. is equipped with a 429-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is priced at $60,150, including a $900 destination charge.

Hyundai said the redesigned Equus for South Korea gets a head-up display, a blind-spot detection system and haptic steering.

Edmunds says: Some modest changes appear to be in store for the Hyundai Equus, including a less heavy-handed touch when it comes to exterior chrome.

i was interested in buying a 2012 equus, but my only major major major negative point was, when reclining the rear seats NO ONE COULD GET IN THE FRONT SEATS TO DRIVE ME AROUND ETC. ETC...what is wrong with that picture...i'll buy one when you increase the wheel base so when you recline the seats in the back, driver and front passenger can be in the front also!
