TORRANCE, California — The 2014 Honda CR-V starts at $23,775, including an $830 destination charge, reflecting a $150 price increase over the 2013 model.

The top-of-the-line 2014 Honda CR-V EX-L with a navigation system and all-wheel drive starts at $31,275, including shipping.

The 2014 Honda CR-V goes on sale today. It is a carryover model with no changes from the previous model year.

The base 2013 Honda CR-V starts at $23,625, including an $830 destination charge.

The base 2014 Honda CR-V is $180 more expensive than the base 2014 Ford Escape, one of its chief competitors. The 2014 Ford Escape starts at $23,595, including an $895 destination charge.

But the base 2014 Honda CR-V undercuts the 2013 Toyota RAV4 by $385. The 2013 RAV4 starts at $24,160, including an $860 destination charge. Toyota has not released 2014 RAV4 pricing.

Another one of the CR-V's chief Japanese competitors, the 2014 Mazda CX-5, undercuts the 2014 Honda CR-V by $1,585. The 2014 Mazda CX-5 starts at $22,190, including a $795 destination charge.

Edmunds says: Despite the modest price increase, the 2014 Honda CR-V remains one of the most affordable — and popular — vehicles in the compact SUV segment.
