DEARBORN, Michigan The 2014 Ford EcoBoost Challenge drive tour gives U.S. consumers the chance to get behind the wheel of vehicles including the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST.

Participants can experience hot laps with a professional driver in the 2014 Ford Focus ST.

The free EcoBoost Challenge kicks off April 12 in Phoenix. The three course setups include an ST Performance Academy drive, a Hybrid Challenge course and an EcoBoost Challenge drive. The EcoBoost and hybrid courses allow participants to drive Ford products against the competition.

Closed-course competitor drives will feature the 2014 Ford C-Max Hybrid, Escape, Fusion and F-150. Ford said participants will also "get an early look" at the 2015 Ford Mustang, Transit Connect Wagon and EcoBoost-powered Expedition.

"The EcoBoost Challenge gets consumers behind the wheel of some of Ford's most popular vehicles on three exciting closed-course tracks, including back-to-back drives with competitor vehicles," said Ford in a statement on Thursday.

More than 28,000 people took part in last year's EcoBoost Challenge.

Pre-registration is required.

The 2014 EcoBoost Challenge events will take place on Saturdays in April, May, June and July in 12 markets.

They are:

*Phoenix: University of Phoenix Stadium, April 12
*Charlotte, North Carolina: Charlotte Motor Speedway, April 18-19 (in conjunction with Mustang 50th celebration)
*Miami: Calder Casino and Race Course, April 26
*Orlando: Daytona International Speedway, May 3
*Los Angeles: Santa Anita Race Park, May 10
*Dallas: AT&T Stadium, May 17
*Seattle: Emerald Downs, May 31
*Houston: Reliant Stadium, June 7
*Columbus, Ohio: Ohio State University, June 14
*Chicago: Arlington Park, June 21
*San Francisco: Golden Gate Fields, June 28
*Indianapolis: Lucas Oil Stadium, July 19
