WASHINGTON The 2014 Chevrolet Impala full-size sedan has earned the highest five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The Impala received five stars in front and side impact tests and four stars in the rollover crash test.

The 2014 Impala has incomplete scores from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, but earned "good" scores in the IIHS's moderate front overlap crash test and side crash test so far.

In the moderate front overlap crash test, the forces in the test are similar to those that would result from a frontal offset crash between two vehicles of the same weight, each going just under 40 mph.

Standard safety features in the Impala include driver and front passenger knee airbags, stability control and antilock brakes.

The Impala competes with the 2014 Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Ford Taurus and Toyota Avalon.
