NURBURGRING, Germany — The European version of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is now undergoing testing at the legendary Nurburgring, General Motors announced on Friday.

"Nurburgring is renowned for its demanding racetrack and it is perfectly suited for our purpose, which is to fine-tune the ride and handling characteristics of the European Corvette Stingray," said Jim Mero, GM vehicle dynamics engineer, in a statement. "We are paying particular attention to the suspension setup and the steering at Nurburgring. "European roads are quite distinct and different from those in the U.S., and so are driving habits."

GM has not published any Nurburgring lap times for the Corvette Stingray at this point.

GM engineers are currently assessing two Corvette Stingrays in Europe. The automaker said both have been driven on a wide variety of roads.

The testing procedures are part of GM's standard quality control program for all of its vehicles bound for sale in Europe.

Edmunds says: Will the 2014 Corvette Stingray take down any Nurburgring records?
