2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Chevrolet Silverado Win 2014 NACTOY Awards

DETROIT — The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 are the 2014 North American Car and Truck of the Year in a General Motors sweep at the kickoff of the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.

This marks the first time that Chevrolet has won both awards in the same year. The Silverado was last named Truck of the Year in 2007 and the Corvette was last named Car of the Year in 1998.

The Corvette beat the 2014 Cadillac CTS and 2014 Mazda 3 to take home the top car honor.

The Silverado blew past the 2014 Acura MDX and 2014 Jeep Cherokee to win the top truck/utility honor.

"Chevrolet is in the most aggressive product transformation in the brand's more than 100-year history," said Alan Batey, senior vice president of Global Chevrolet, in a statement on Monday. "The Corvette and Silverado truly embody the passion, commitment and focus that is driving us to deliver the most expressive designs, innovative technologies and engaging performance in every vehicle that wears the bowtie."

The 2013 Cadillac ATS and 2013 Ram 1500 won the top NACTOY honors at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
