- The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Cadillac CTS and Mazda 3 were named finalists for the 2014 North American Car of the Year.
- The 2014 Jeep Cherokee, Chevrolet Silverado and Acura MDX were named 2014 North American Truck/Utility finalists.
- The winners will be announced on January 13 at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
The trio beat out other semi-finalist contenders, including the 2014 BMW 4 Series, Chevrolet Impala, Infiniti Q50, Jaguar F-Type, Kia Cadenza, Lexus IS, Mazda 6, Mercedes-Benz CLA and Toyota Corolla.
The three trucks/utilities came out on top over other semi-finalists, including the 2014 BMW X5, Buick Encore, GMC Sierra, Hyundai Santa Fe LWB, Kia Sorento, Land Rover Range Rover Sport, Nissan Rogue, Subaru Forester and Toyota Tundra.
The winners will be announced on January 13 at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
The six finalists were announced on Tuesday. They were selected by a jury of 48 automotive journalists from the U.S. and Canada, including Scott Oldham, Edmunds' editor in chief.
The awards recognize the most outstanding vehicles of the year based on factors that include innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and value for the dollar.
