ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey — The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette coupe will not be available until this summer, but the order guide for the eagerly awaited new model has been posted online. So, even though GM has not yet announced pricing, prospective buyers can begin looking over their options.

Pricing remains unknown at this time, but a Corvette spokesman told Edmunds to expect an announcement "within 30 days."

The convertible will follow by several months, and no guide for that model has yet been made public.

The order guide, a detailed description of available equipment for every trim level of the 2014 C7 Corvette, was released to dealers by GM this week. New Jersey dealer Kerbeck Corvette uploaded a PDF of the guide to its site.

There was some early speculation that the order guide that showed up online was not the genuine item from GM, but Corvette Communications Director Monte Doran confirmed that it was indeed the real thing. He also told Edmunds, "We were not the least bit surprised" that the guide was made public.

Doran said order guides are sent to dealers well in advance of a car's availability, so sales staff can become familiar with features and assist customers with the ordering process. Once they're in the hands of dealers, he said "we assume they'll be made public."

According to the order guide, the 2014 Stingray will be available in three trim levels, 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT. An available Z51 performance package will include 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, a dry-sump oil system, electronic limited-slip differential, larger front brakes, upgraded suspension components, differential and transmission coolers, and an aero package for high-speed stability.

Options abound, of course, covering everything from special seats and cargo mats to a dual-mode exhaust system. There's also an extra-cost color override feature that will allow buyers to combine interior and exterior colors that aren't "recommended" on the standard pick list. Customers may also opt for a personalized plaque sporting their name and VIN, either with or without the Corvette Museum logo.

All 2014 Corvettes have redesigned interiors and exteriors and, even without options, come with features like HID xenon headlights, dual-zone climate control, driver mode selector, active stability control, nine-speaker Bose audio system, and Chevy's MyLink system that integrates with Bluetooth mobile devices.

According to the order guide, this is the most powerful standard Corvette ever, with "GM-estimated" 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, pushing the C7 to 60 mph in "under 4 seconds." Specs are estimated because final numbers have yet to be released.

Pricing is expected to be announced "within 30 days," Doran told Edmunds.

Doran also said the 2014 Corvette will have a "large presence" at the Corvette Bash taking place April 25-27 at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This will be the first chance for "large numbers of people to see multiple 2014 Stingrays at the same time."

Edmunds says: We're gradually learning a bit more about the seventh-generation Corvette, but while some of the most critical information, like pricing and performance specs, is still far out on the end of the stick, at least the stick is getting shorter.
