TORRANCE, California — The base 2013 Toyota Prius C One starts at $19,875, including a $795 destination charge, reflecting a $130 price increase over the base 2012 Toyota Prius C. The 2013 Prius C will go on sale in early January.
The top-of-the-line 2013 Toyota Prius C Four starts at $24,155, including shipping, while the base 2012 Toyota Prius C One starts at $19,745, including a $795 destination charge.
Toyota said the 2013 Prius C gets interior upgrades that include a standard SofTex-trimmed steering wheel on the Prius C Four and a black SofTex dash panel on Prius C Two and Three models.
Toyota's Prius C is more expensive than two of its key competitors, the 2013 Honda Insight and the 2013 Ford Fiesta SE hatchback.
The base 2013 Honda Insight starts at $19,390, including a $790 destination charge, making the 2013 Prius C $485 more expensive than the Insight.
The base 2013 Ford Fiesta SE hatchback starts at $16,995, including a $795 destination charge. The 2013 Prius C is $2,880 more expensive than the Fiesta SE hatchback.
Edmunds says: A modest price increase for the 2013 Toyota Prius C, but part of a pattern of price increases for many Toyota models, including the 2013 Toyota Camry.
