NEW YORK — The 2013 Shelby Ford F-150 SVT Raptor churns out 575 horsepower, easily earning the title of the most powerful version of Ford's F-150 pickup. The Shelby Raptor debuted at the 2013 New York Auto Show.

Shelby American says the Raptor treatment starts at $17,995 and does not include the price of the base vehicle; Ford charges a starting price of $44,625 (including a $995 destination charge) for a 2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, according to Ford.com. Buyers of the Shelby Raptor can expect an entry-level price, then, of $62,625, including shipping.

The stock Ford Raptor is equipped with a 411-hp 6.2-liter V8. Shelby American adds a Whipple supercharger to the big V8 to boost power to 575 horses. The base Shelby package also bundles Stinger exhaust pipes, boost and fuel-pressure gauges and a custom cabin.

The Ford Raptor can be further customized with three Shelby American graphics packages.

Edmunds says: Shelby American is more widely known for souping-up Ford Mustangs, but tweaking Ford's best-selling pickup seems a natural fit.
