STUTTGART, Germany — A 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG aimed at toddlers and priced at the U.S. equivalent of $100 is the highlight of the Mercedes-Benz holiday collection.

The adult-sized 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG roadster starts at $197,005, including a $905 destination charge.

Daimler said production of the pint-sized SLS AMG, a ride-on toy, is limited to 2,500 units.

The toy version of the SLS AMG comes in matte white or Monza grey magno. It gets Mercedes-Benz AMG wheel rims and "is suitable for toddlers aged 18 months and older," said Daimler in a statement on Tuesday.

The automaker also rolled out ride-on versions of the Mercedes-Benz Actros truck and the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL roadster.

"Soon Father Christmas won't have the coolest ride in town," Daimler said.

More automakers are aiming their brands and products at kids. Chevrolet and Disney have joined forces to win over adolescents and Porsche has long insisted that elementary school-aged kids have a natural affinity for red convertibles.

Edmunds says: Forget about luring in 12-year-olds. Daimler wants to bring toddlers into the fold with these sophisticated holiday gifts.
