NEW YORK — McLaren will celebrate its 50th anniversary by offering the limited-edition 2013 McLaren 50 12C and 12C Spider — but North America is not included in the fun.

"At this point, we don't have plans to build it for the North American market," wrote Francesca Frazzitta, a McLaren spokeswoman, in response to a query from Edmunds.

Production will be limited to 100, with 50 units of each model set for some global markets. The 2013 McLaren 50 12C is priced at the U.S. equivalent of $295,900 in the United Kingdom, while the McLaren 50 12C Spider is priced at the U.S. equivalent of $325,340.

The unique models are designed by McLaren Special Operations. They are available in Carbon Black, Supernova Silver or McLaren Orange exterior paint.

They are equipped with a new front bumper, a black McLaren F1-inspired heritage badge and additional carbon-fiber trim. Other details include carbon ceramic brakes and McLaren Ultra Lightweight wheels in Satin Black.

The cabin gets a full leather upgrade and an anniversary plate on the driver's door.

Other goodies include a monogrammed black-and-silver car cover, limited-edition key, carbon-fiber presentation key box and a specially commissioned print signed by McLaren Automotive Design Director Frank Stephenson.

McLaren celebrates its 50th anniversary on September 2.

Edmunds says: It seems odd that McLaren would skip North America on this one, given the brand's dedicated following here.
