TORRANCE, California — American Honda Motor Co. is recalling 18,352 2006-'07 Honda S2000s and 2006 Acura RSXs to replace the brake booster, the company said.

"A production error may have allowed brake booster components to be produced outside of the original specifications, potentially causing decreased brake assistance over time, which could increase the risk of a crash," said American Honda in a statement late Wednesday.

No crashes or injuries have been linked to the recall. The problem was discovered through warranty claim analysis, according to the company.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees vehicle recalls in the U.S., had not posted any information about the recall as of early Thursday.

The recall will begin around July 15. Owners can contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009 or Acura at 1-800-382-2238.

Edmunds says: Honda is telling owners of affected vehicles to take their vehicles into the dealership as soon as they receive the recall notification. But if you notice a problem, you'll want to get your car in earlier.
