Re: The Only Luxury Car... [lemko]

Her is some interesteing data from July 2007. According to the industry examiners at CNW Research, Cadillac’s fortunes appear to be slipping away at the margins. In the firm’s July installment of their Retail Automotive Summary, their Aspirational Index (which judges a brand’s attractiveness to consumers) reveals that Cadillac’s rising star is beginning to falter. In the mid-Nineties, the marque rated only a 4 on a 10 point scale. With the ... Read More

Even BMW, with their excellent 535i, has not announced plans to abandon the 550i. I also agree with pretty much everything you say but do no wait for BMW to announce dropping the V8 in the near term. They will continue to pay gaz guzzler taxes until the tax is so high actual buyers refuse to pay it. BMW will just pay the penalties as long as consumers support them. When ... Read More

I hope you aren't talking about the new ULTRA Unfortunately yes. When I heard this I screamed at the person who told me. Not that it was their decision. BUT in looking at it and all the other stuff that is going on I can see why. I just do not like it. First the possible usage of the engine was very small volume. Pretty much Cadillac only and in only ... Read More

"I agree GM could do better in their Cadillac interiors......the XLR in particular the interior is dissapointing. " The XLR needs to be updated as does the STS to some degree. I like the CTS, DTS, Escalade and SRX interiors. They are very competitive with anything from MB or Lexus. The 2007 refresh of the SRX interior took it from worst in class to one of the best.

Since its been on sale the 2008 CTS has outsold the C class, TL, IS, A4 and G35. I would say the car s doing just fine and will continue to do so....Read some of the consumer reviews right here on this site, many owners have traded in European cars. Would you be so kind to post a link to back this up? I did a little research and this is ... Read More

"General Motors has announced the recall of 276,000 vehicles. The recall is due to a faulty pinion seal, which can cause fluid leaks. The recall affects the 2005-07 Cadillac CTS, CTS-V, SRX, STS and STS-V; 2006-07 Pontiac Solstice; and 2007 Saturn Sky. " That's the last thing they need at this crucial point. Hopefully they can get this problem fixed and it'll be the only problem for the CTS. I personally ... Read More

American \ Expensive Re: Road & Track comparison [sls002]

Cadillac will do best to market cars that are not direct competition with BMW or Mercedes. If Cadillac can build something different, but American, then it should sell. Cadillac will not be able to sell something very expensive. The XLR does not sell like the Mercedes SL's. = = = While I agree with statements 1 & 2, I disagree with #3. If Caddy does build something unique & American, I ... Read More

My local dealer had an XLR on the showroom floor last time I was there. The interior did not seem that much better than a basic Cadillac. At the same time I looked at the 2007 SRX interior. It does look better than the 2006 interior, but mainly because there is more wood. The plastics have been replaced with something that looks like leather, and has stitching. The 2008 CTS looks ... I have uncles that still won't buy anything but a Cadillac, but lucky for them Cadillac really does make something worth buying in 2007. It has to be a "hog". Really, Merc. The STS-V without bluetooth - the STS without an engine...the Escalade without folding rear seats, the CTS without - pretty much everything, the DTS without a driveshaft, the SRX without a theme or the XLR, well, that one isn't ... I think that a CTS wagon would take sales away from the SRX, especially if the CTS has AWD. However, a CTS wagon could be the new SRX. i think the SRX will be short lived. For 2007 they have redone the interior but not the exterior which will give it legs for a few more years. I read somewhere that Cadillac will get a CUV based on Theta. This will, ... Read More
