Cadillac STS/STS-V Prices Paid and Buying Experience

  • My 2009 STS saga

Gee, nothing here for over 2 years. Wow I guess STS buyers are too busy for this forum (or too rich to care). Well, I'm neither, and I have liked the STS ever since it went to RWD in 2004. But the price scared the bejezzus out of me, especially the NorthStar V8 equipped ones ($56,000 MSRP with no options!). After all I couldn't very well get an STS with the ... Read More

I was thinking of my friend's 1980 Chevrolet Citation which had that stuff all over the interior - like it was fooling anybody into thinking it was real stitching. I don't think GM interiors started getting crappy until maybe the late 1960s with the increased use of plastics. Mid-sixties Pontiacs have beautiful interiors and a clearly a step up from Chevrolets. What happened? However, I think they've finally realized the error ... Read More

By Jamie Lareau June 23, 2008 General Motors will unveil a Cadillac CTS wagon this fall in an effort to compete with BMW's 3 series and Mercedes C-class wagons. Cadillac intends to start production in 2009 for global sale. GM has shown a CTS coupe concept to be produced next year. Cadillac also plans to replace its current SRX crossover with a production version of the Provoq concept crossover as a ... Read More

The year 1950 was the high point in the Cadillac brand’s post-World War II exports to Australia, when five cars were sold, including one to then-Prime Minister Robert Menzies. For the next 40 years, Cadillacs came to symbolize American culture. The spectacularly vulgar be-finned barges of the 1950s and 1960s epitomized the country’s prosperity, captured in the 1956 Judy Holiday hit movie “The Solid Gold Cadillac.” Yet, the cars rarely left ... Even BMW, with their excellent 535i, has not announced plans to abandon the 550i. I also agree with pretty much everything you say but do no wait for BMW to announce dropping the V8 in the near term. They will continue to pay gaz guzzler taxes until the tax is so high actual buyers refuse to pay it. BMW will just pay the penalties as long as consumers support them. When ... Read More

GM, is working on a overhead-cam V8 codenamed "Ultra" which is most likely to debut in the 2009' Cadillac STS. It is expected to make power numbers similar the big-bore Mercedes Benz's engine fleet. :) Rocky

I think that the Ford GM six speed design was for FWDs, although I think the design is modular, so the six speed RWD design is probably related. However, putting the FWD six speed into the DTS and Lucerne will require some design changes for both the FWD northstar and the DTS/Lucerne transaxle. The question is whether the cost of doing this is worthwhile for the remaining production. As I said, ... Read More

Cadillac STS/STS-V: What's New for 2007?

  • Flagship sedan

My understanding is that the STS will be the flagship for now, with a larger RWD sedan to come. Details on the large sedan are still fairly sketchy, except that the styling should be based on the 16. I also believe that the Deville will soldier on relatively unchanged until something like 2009, to appeal to the current Cadillac crowd. I think that is smart, build cars to compete with the ...
