Re: Unsold 2007 Cadillac STS [palalt]

In the CTS forum there are people who are having problems with V6 oil consumption. My 2002 Seville used about 4 quarts every 10000 miles, which was the oil monitor's oil change interval for me. I used Mobil 1 synthetic in it. My dealer recommended the first change at the oil monitor's 30% oil life left stage, which was at 11,500 miles. This engine requires synthetic oil for the oil monitor ... Read More

Wow! I guess I better start checking the oil between changes on my V6 STS. I hadn't heard of a V6 consumption problem on any V6's, only the Northstar V8. I have a friend that has an 02 Eldo that uses at least a quart every 1K. Don't really know if the new motors are any better. I have to ask. You performed your "first" oil change at 11K? My 2007 SRX with the V8 does not use oil (so far) between changes. My first oil change was at 11500 miles and I had not added any oil. Some of the CTS owners are reporting V6 oil consumption rates of 1 qt in 1000 miles or so.

I found my 07 at Al Piemonte Cadillac in St. Charles. I had found a couple close to the $30K mark but they were missing the 3 big items; NAV, AWD and Moonroof. A basic RWD car didn't do the job for me regardless of price. Piemonte actually had those base cars advertised for higher than the loaded one I purchased. Don't ask me why. My God, what a spectacular deal. I'm looking for about 9 to 12 months out. I've kept my Maxima (bought new) for 16 years. I want to replace it with something a little plusher, hopefully under $30k. I'd still like just the faintest hint of over-the-road responsiveness. Cooled seats would be swell. Real wood, even sweller. I could love the CTS except for one fatal flaw: The console digs into my ... Read More

Cadillac has their Field Reps drive them, then resell them as used. Last month I bought an 07 STS, V6 AWD with Nav and a Moonroof. It was titled to General Motors, the only purpose to me was that they didn't allow the perception that you could buy a NEW STS for such a discouint. To me it was like buying a Demo. Funny thing is, I still own one of those 1980s Cadillac "rolling bathtubs." I wouldn't call it a timeless classic, but it has a lot of sentimental value for me as it was my first new Cadillac. I had a 1975 Cadillac Sedan DeVille before that one. I've also owned a 1994 Cadillac DeVille and a 2002 Cadillac Seville STS. I currently own a 2007 Cadillac DTS Performance I bought back ... Her is some interesteing data from July 2007. According to the industry examiners at CNW Research, Cadillac’s fortunes appear to be slipping away at the margins. In the firm’s July installment of their Retail Automotive Summary, their Aspirational Index (which judges a brand’s attractiveness to consumers) reveals that Cadillac’s rising star is beginning to falter. In the mid-Nineties, the marque rated only a 4 on a 10 point scale. With the ... Read More

but already GM has a recall on the new CTS with the rear end leaking. including the 2005-2007 Cadillac CTS and STS sedans, I believe the recall is on the old CTS, not the new. FYI, GM had lower recalls than Toyota and all the other major OEM's last year even though they had the highest volume of sales.

"I agree GM could do better in their Cadillac interiors......the XLR in particular the interior is dissapointing. " The XLR needs to be updated as does the STS to some degree. I like the CTS, DTS, Escalade and SRX interiors. They are very competitive with anything from MB or Lexus. The 2007 refresh of the SRX interior took it from worst in class to one of the best.

Why I buy Cadillac over Benz
Written by: lemko on Dec 22, 2007 1:25:51 PM
I WILL any Cadillac over a Mercedes-Benz many reasons: 1. It's a Cadillac. I have always been excited or impressed by a Caddy. Mercedes has had many BAD years over the last 15. I don't think there's been a truly great Mercedes since the very excellent W126 S-Class. If any of my Cadillacs given me the grief that my brother-in-law's S430 has given him, I'd have defected to Lexus by now. ... Read More

Cadillac should have reviewed the ad more critically. The DI 3.6 CTS is supposed to get better mileage than the base 3.6 did. The new rating for the 2007 CTS are 16/25 while the 2008 is 17/26. What is not clear is whether this is for the new engine or not. The STS has similar ratings and it has the DI standard. GM's website rates both engines at 26 highway.
