Cadillac STS/STS-V: Driving Experience/Handling

2007 sts winter tires

I traded in a 1998 Deville for a 2007 STS V8 and this first winter snow storm was a rude awakening. The car would not hardly go at all - the Deville was pretty good in the snow. The 17" Michilin tires on the STS look great for tire life, but are lacking of any lugs at all for winter. So I put on four 225/60-15" Michilin symetry tires from my Deville (my winter set) and it has ... Read More...

Can GM make Cadillac the standard of the world Again?

If the STS still cost 40k I'd look somewhere else. If I'm gonna spend that much I'd better buy a Lexus Infiniti or Audi. They have better quality and resale value. I personally find Cadillac too arrogant to push the STS' price too close to the Japanese and German luxo midsizes (charging 55k for STS v6 when a 535i cost about the same). "I am sure you could get a reasonable ... Read More...

Cadillac DTS/STS vs. Chrysler 300/300C

Re: DTS VERSUS CHRYSLER 300C AND OR SRT [bremertong]

I considered buying a Caddy STS back in 2006, until I test drove a Chrysler 300C. For those who want a big, comfortable sedan either car appears to be a good choice. Parked side by side, there was no contest. The Cadillac looked old even though it was new. The 300C was so fresh it turns heads when parked. I drove both cars and decided that although the Caddy was covered ... Read More...

Can GM make Cadillac the standard of the world Again?

Re: The Only Luxury Car... [lemko]

Her is some interesteing data from July 2007. According to the industry examiners at CNW Research, Cadillac’s fortunes appear to be slipping away at the margins. In the firm’s July installment of their Retail Automotive Summary, their Aspirational Index (which judges a brand’s attractiveness to consumers) reveals that Cadillac’s rising star is beginning ... 2006 STS V8 AWD Reliability

Re: 2006 STS V8 AWD Reliability [dmathews3]

If the cast sticker was $64K and the first deal $43K to me it starts to look like a reasonable deal. The Edmunds site lists a dealer sold car to be about $40K with the same options, so if I could get an offer at $40K for someting with 200 miles I'm thinking this is a good deal. Two of the cars are white and one red. It looks to me like they got a good deal on year end stock and couldn't ... Read More...

Can GM make Cadillac the standard of the world Again?

Re: We have to get it together in the US [tntmyth]

But lately we have noticed that some of the GM cars are looking pretty impressive, namely the Cadillac CTS, Chevy Malibu, GMC Acadia, Saturn Vue, Saturn Outlook, Saturn Aura, Buick Enclave. Also some of the Fords look good, like the Ford Edge, Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, Mercury Milan. I agree completely Americans are starting to build better vehicles, The only ... Read More...

Re: Road & Track comparison [mrsyj]

Since its been on sale the 2008 CTS has outsold the C class, TL, IS, A4 and G35. I would say the car s doing just fine and will continue to do so....Read some of the consumer reviews right here on this site, many owners have traded in European cars. Would you be so kind to post a link to back this up? I did a little research and this is what I discovered: (sorry about the spacing ... Read More...

"General Motors has announced the recall of 276,000 vehicles. The recall is due to a faulty pinion seal, which can cause fluid leaks. The recall affects the 2005-07 Cadillac CTS, CTS-V, SRX, STS and STS-V; 2006-07 Pontiac Solstice; and 2007 Saturn Sky. " That's the last thing they need at this crucial point. Hopefully they can get this problem fixed and it'll ... Read More...

Re: Road & Track comparison [louiswei]

"We have no proof that GM has been making poor quality vehicles across the board for 30 years." Across the board? There is no evidence. We do know that GM quality wasnt as good as Toyota quality in the past but that is not the same as saying every GM product ever made in the last 30 years was junk. My personal experience and the experiences of other car owners I know are ... Read More...

And: "General Motors has announced the recall of 276,000 vehicles. The recall is due to a faulty pinion seal, which can cause fluid leaks. The recall affects the 2005-07 Cadillac CTS, CTS-V, SRX, STS and STS-V; 2006-07 Pontiac Solstice; and 2007 Saturn Sky. " Now we all know Mercedes has had its own quality problems of late. But that is just for the last 7 or 8 years? ... Read More...
