I have a 2006 SRX and June of last year i had to replace the timing chain. now i am noticing the noise is starting to come back again. how often do these chains need to be replaced? i always thought cadillac's were a good car and used to buy foreign cars but switch to a gm car but i am having too many mechanical problems. i may go back to ... • Timing chain and front end squeaking 2006 SRX

Written by: lemonsrx on May 6, 2012 12:07:49 PM

We purchased a Cadillac SRX brand new. Thinking we were purchasing a well built luxury American car. What a lemon! Nothing but problems!! The front end squeaks horribly sounding like a piece junk rather than a luxury car. The traction control system kicks on at times without warning causing it to be hard to control. The timing chains now need to be replaced. Obviously this a known problem and should be ... Read More

Hi mlkh. It's possible you've already fixed your 2006 srx by now. I'm having the same problem with my 2006 srx. I'm at 101,000 with a good service record. GMC wants to rebuild the engine with cost up to $10,000. I wrote to corporate. They will pay 1/3 of the repairs or give me $2000 towards another GMC vehicle. GMC legal wants to give me $5000 for salvage. Market value is ... Read More

The timing chain broke on my 2006 cadillac srx. We were on vacation and it happened suddenly. had it towed to local cadillac dealership. They said they had never heard of one breaking. They say it is not under warranty. Have 51000 miles on my vehicle with no hard driving. We are now up to probably needing a new engine. Is it worth it?

Wow, do I know about the engine whine. I have been complaining about it for some time and they "think" that it is the dreaded timing chain issue that SRX's are plagued with. Getting the chain(s) on my 2006 SRX replaced now and will follow up with an update.

Cadillac SRX Tires and Wheels

  • Re: 20" WHEELS I can't win [srxman]

The 20 inch wheels are a new for 2007 option. The 2004, 2005 and 2006 models only offered 18 inch wheels. I don't know what kind of warranty the wheel dealer included, but these wheels probably could invalidate the Cadillac warranty if they cause any damage to your SRX.

I own an 2005 SRX with 18 inch wheels...I too wanted the 255s all around........the 255s fit in front no problem... The dealer did not recommend as it would put unnecessary stress on the front end and may cause hydroplaning in extreme conditions.......and if 255s in front caused any damage or premature wear the warranty would not cover... For winter I put 235s all around.....no problem...... I am looking for a ... Read More

I bought my 2005 SRX AWD last year (2006) for $24,900. It's fully loaded, third row seating, GPS, performance package, magnetic ride, DVD entertainment, along with the totally rockin' sunroof!! I would have to say that we got a pretty good deal. It was turned in at a Toyota dealer for trade in. They didn't even know it had a dvd in it!! When I was test driving, they were surprised ... Cadillac SRX reliability, maintenance and quality

  • Cadillac SRX reliability, maintenance, and quality???

I am torn between a 2006 Cadillac SRX and the 2006 Acura MDX. Both are in pristine shape with approximately 6000 miles. The MDX is nice and is the safer car to go with it seems. Better overall reviews from editors and Consumer Reports. However, I'm intrigued and very interested in the SRX - rides great, good performance, great ultra-view roof and nice looks. 1. I'd be happy to help you out, gs80. GMAC uses lease rates instead of money factors to calculate lease payments. You can convert its lease rates into approximate money factor equivalents by dividing them by 2400. GMAC's current base lease rate and residual value for a 39 month lease of a 2006 Cadillac SRX V6 with 12,000 miles per year are 3.95% and 54%, respectively. When negotiating your lease on this ... Hey Nortsr1. Unfortunately, the 0% rate that GM is offering on the 2006 Cadillac SRX is only available on loans, not leases. GMAC's special lease rate for this vehicle is 3.95%. That's the bad news. The good news is that the $2,000 customer cash that is being offered on this truck is not available on leases, a special $3,250 lease cash incentive is. According to my calculations, if you were to ... Read More

All passengers were fine, the car however was not. Today is April 16,2006. I still do not have my car back. All do to cadillacs inability to provide a part. Whatever your alternative is, go for ... Hi joegolfer1. When negotiating your Cadillac SRX lease, keep in mind that GM is currently providing $750 lease cash on it. As a result, the dealer that you are working with is making $750 on a lease of one at dealer invoice. This isn't a bad price, but I thought that you needed to know about the cash so you didn't think that this was a thinner deal than it really ... Read More
