What Edmunds.com says

If you're looking for a top notch luxury sedan that favors comfort over performance, the Seville is one of the smoothest rides this side of Stuttgart.

Pros

World-class engineering, contemporary styling, smooth V8, superbly equipped.

Cons

Doesn't hold it's value as well as other luxury brands, numerous electronic systems could be costly to repair.

What's New for 2002

An advanced navigation system with voice recognition and the Bose 4.0 sound system is new for 2002. Cadillac's restyled wreath and crest ornamentation is also added along with oil change intervals that have been increased from 10,000 to 12,500 miles. Later in the year, Seville gets two new colors, as well as provisions for Digital Satellite radio and a cellular integration package.

2002 Cadillac Seville STS 4dr Sedan (4.6L 8cyl 4A)

Review

I have owned my 2002 STS for three years and love it...sort of. I'll be honest the engine and tranny work great together. Throughout my time owning it I have not had to have the engine or transmission serviced. The interior looks great (it won interior of the year in 1998) especially with the newer nav unit but it does suffer from the GM rattles and cheap plastics. The real problem with this car is it's suspension. Tie rods and intermediate shafts seem to be a recurring problem. Having 300HP going to the front wheels puts a lot of strain on those weak legs. I love my car and thank goodness for warranties.

Favorite Features

Performance, navigation unit, heated seats, Xenons, back up sensors and all the other Cadillac ammenities

Suggested Improvements

It's already been done, but RWD is the main thing. What's the point of having 300 horses if you can't control them? The rattling plastic is annoying.

2002 Cadillac Seville SLS 4dr Sedan (4.6L 8cyl 4A)

Review

This SLS is my 3rd Cadillac, and by far the best car I've owned. Ride comfort on long trips is unsurpassed, as is fuel economy for a car this size. The Northstar engine is really amazing in that it has incredible power, yet gets 30 mpg on the highway. Around town it is nimble while soaking up rough pavement in stride. Cadillac has a proven winner with this generation Seville with reliability of a Swiss watch. Or should I call it the Rolex of cars.

Favorite Features

Automatic climate control, seating comfort, ultra smooth Northstar engine with perfectly matched transmission.

Suggested Improvements

Don't change anything!

2002 Cadillac Seville STS 4dr Sedan (4.6L 8cyl 4A)

Review

I bought this car 8 months ago not knowing much about the Cadillac family very much. I was obviously worried about that curse used Cadillacs seem to carry with them with a high rate of unreliability but iwas wrong. I kept good tabs on this baby and she has never failed me with a breakdown or faulty light not once. The only problem I had was the water pump froze and ended up getting a small crack but I still believe that was due to the consecutive 5 degree days (and sub zero) nights up in the northshore. I love the cockpit and have had no complaints of leg room. Very powerful when it needs and refined.

Favorite Features

Excellent distribution of power through the 32v northstar v8 in my opinion best use of the GM engine out of all Cadillac models that year. World renowned class.

Suggested Improvements

No car's perfect - could improve easier access to air intake housing - gas can sometimes be a problem in high traffic areas like Boston w/ the cold weather improve ignition switches/sensors sometimes it just doesn't start at all due to faulty cam sensors

Review

I just got this puppy in May of this year...so far so good. It's funny how I ended up in this car being that I was looking at a '91 Corvette and a 2003 Mustang GT. Not to mention I was getting out of a 1999 Trans Am...needless to say I'm into fast, agressive cars, but my main goal this time around was to get the most bang for my buck and the Cadillac SLS beat them out. It's really fast and solid as a rock. I love the way the back end of the car looks, but the front end is the only thing I'd change. It is just a little farty. I tend to forget that when I get behind the wheel and hit high speeds in no time while feeling like I'm sitting on the couch in my living room. I recommend this car for anyone who grew up as a gear head. I'm 25 years old.

Favorite Features

The speed. I'm amazed how fast this car is, given that is a sedan. I must mention this car has a cold air intake and flowmaster exhuast, yes on a Cadillac. It's brilliant. I love the dash and the tech look. The cool interior light gadget colors are neat, too. The seats are more like lounge chairs, It is also good on gas.

Suggested Improvements

Well, Cadillac has impoved everything on this car since it restyled it in '04, so i guess the only thing I don't like on this car is the front end. They could have done it better. Also, there is a little bit of vibration between 65 and 70 mph. This car is like a wolf in sheep's clothing.
