Summary
What Edmunds.com says
If you're looking for a top-notch luxury sedan that favors comfort over performance, the Seville is one of the smoothest rides this side of Stuttgart.
Pros
World-class engineering, contemporary styling, smooth V8, superbly equipped.
Cons
History of not retaining value as well as rivals, electronic doodads could be costly to repair.
What's New for 2000
The Northstar V8s have been improved, and all models get a new airbag suppression system and the revised version of GM's StabiliTrak. A new ultrasonic rear parking assist feature and an advanced navigation system are optional on both STS and SLS. There are also two new exterior colors, Midnight Blue and Bronzemist.

Sporty Caddy
Vehicle
2000 Cadillac Seville 4 Dr SLS Sedan
Review
Bought the caddy used in 2007 and put already 20,000 miles on it. No problems so far. Fun to drive on highway and interstate. Gas mileage is quite good. Sometimes I get 26/gal. Uses more oil than any of my other cars. Dealership says it's within normal limits. Doesn't smoke or leaks oil though.
Favorite Features
Always more than enough power to pass when needed. The interior is nice and comfy. Quiet and subtle ride.
Suggested Improvements
Rain water drips in trunk when lid is opened. Really annoying.
Great Car, Even With The Broken Parts
Vehicle
2000 Cadillac Seville 4 Dr SLS Sedan
Review
There are a lot of problems with this car, but I attribute this to the high mileage. It has over 180,000 miles. Although the ABS is broken, Traction Control is broken, AC/Heat in drivers vents is broken, trunk leaks, rear cig lighter is gone, burns oil, the covers for the rear turn signals fell off (in the car wash), trunk popper is broken, I still LOVE this car. I love the sound system. I love the ability to overtake most anything on the road. It is very comfortable. I love how it can take unleaded fuel (thank God for that). When people say how "so much stuff is broken", I say it just has a personality.
Favorite Features
Sound system, stereo, power.
Suggested Improvements
Please Cadillac, NEVER make a car that is supposed to burn oil again.

2000 Cadillac Seville

2000 Cadillac Seville 4 Dr SLS Sedan
Review
Great car, reliable, super performance, engine is probably the finest and most efficient on the road today. Problems with a/c, climate control and tranny. After several returns to dealer and 3 yrs, finally got a/c repaired. Tranny? Not yet repaired.
Favorite Features
Highway performance.
Suggested Improvements
Better tranny, eliminate problems w/solenoid in tranny.

Review
if you buy one of these out of warranty you're gonna wanna put about $4,000 in a safe for that rainy day when your head gaskets or cylinder heads fail you. You're also going to want to set aside $150 semiannually for replacement of the front door Bose subwoofers. And you're going to want to put aside $70 weekly for gas because the car breathes it in. You're going to wonder why your engine shuts off at a stoplight the day after a rainy day. You're going to want to put your hazards on so the hasty driver behind you won't beep their horn when the light turns green after yours shuts off. You're going to want to change that dexcool annually, forget what the manual says. Three years later you're going to wonder why you bought it.
Favorite Features
It's not the subpar stock Goodyears, it's not the subpar subwoofers, it's not the unreliable pre-2004 4.6L, it's not the Cadillac dealer. If I had to pick any features that I don't dislike it'd be the Bose system (which is very crisp) and the exterior (which is awesome).
Suggested Improvements
Ummm, maybe either an all aluminum engine or an all cast iron engine. The 4.6L has a cast iron block and an aluminum head, both materials have different expansion rates paving the way for blown gaskets or cracked heads. I tip my hat to Caddy for the post-2004 models, poor quality. Buy a Lexus.
