Review

My 1989 Seville STS is my first Cadillac and I don't think that it will be my last. I love it! The seats are so comfortable, the motor is very powerful, the ride is very smooth and it looks very good.

Favorite Features

Seats, Styling, Ride & Drive I don't get fatigued driving it long distances.

Suggested Improvements

More steering wheel mounted controls (ie the information center) A touch more rear seat leg room.

The car is a real pleasure. Only concern is electronic are a hit or miss. Front bumper appears loose but dealership(s) say that is the norm.

My wife and I purchased this vehicle used in 2000. We have had to replace the drivers seat heater (the whole cushion)that was warrantied. One electric window motor; warrantied. Oil changes are more than normal; the Northstar V8 holds about 9 quarts of oil. Great comfort and conveniences but an expensive vehicle overall to maintain.

Favorite Features

In Northern Maine, the four seat heaters are a welcome feature. The Bose stereo sounds great.

Suggested Improvements

Electronics have been reminiscient of old British cars; often in the shop for small but expensive repairs.

I have a 98 STS it has abt 70,000 miles I have been very happy with it being my second sts. i owned a 94 sts previously. I love the performance and the handling at 1st was not up to BMW/MB/AUDI standards but I put 20" wheels on it and with 255/35/20 kumho ecsta tires it handles like a dream! I will be buying a 2005 STS when they debut. I drove an 03' with magnaride and that was a revelation! Overall I average 20 mpg which is better than my fiances 330CI and having driven a lot of cars nothing in its class rides as good on big wheels including A6 and 540i

Favorite Features

rainsense wipers/ have to love the northstar V8/ ride/ highway comfort/ bose stereo is one of the best/ launch mode built into tranny (if you put in in second gear manually it will bark the tires on a 1-2 shift!)

Suggested Improvements

Interior quality could go up just a notch my freind has an AUDI A6 the benchmark for interiors and the cadillac is not as nice inside./ 300 horsepower is a lot to route through the front wheels wet or dry. / upgrade the engine mounts my 94 needed new ones and so does this one.

I put a lot of money into this car. When it worked, it worked well. It just didn't work well for very long or very often. Finally, 3 weeks after putting another $500 into maintenance (and telling dealer about idle problems and handling problems) the car's "Check Suspension System" warning came on and driving the car became like riding a bucking bull.

Favorite Features

Lots of power. Great stereo sound. When it works, this is a great highway cruiser.

Suggested Improvements

The car floats a bit with higher speed, steeper angle off ramps. Reliability of car seemed about the same as a Iraqi built Yugo. I had this car maintained at dealer. $3000 dollars maintenance in one year and they still treated me poorly!

This 98 STS is the best. Got all the options. Had to look hard for the wood steering wheel and 4 heated seats. I get outstanding MPG on the highway or hot rod V-8 power. Love the Diamond/white paint and comfy interior. Have other fast cars but this one rocks !!!

Comfy seats and wood package, Northstar power, Good looks.

Plugs and shocks wear out too soon. Complicated gadgets.

Standard - period.. is it suppose to be?

I have owed this 1998 for about 12 months. I live in MN but picked it up in AZ with 2100 miles! Certainly an overall step up from the 1998 I owned. But, it is just standard in its drive and build. Now this would not alarm me for a 4 year old car but it is the same car you can purchase for 50K plus new. I think this is Cadi's best attempt yet but still misses the mark when held up to BMW, Mercedes and Audi. If they could just tighten up the ride and build. I buy them new and used and will forever but hoping GM can just go that extra three feet to the rest of the pack to which they compare themselves.

Favorite Features

Engine - there is power there. Despite the build quality concern it is a stylish interior.

Suggested Improvements

The pervious body style had more character (92 to 97). Yes, it looks the same to those that have not stared at Cadi’s. But those subtle differences are noticed by those that do and it is those differences that put the final frosting on the cake.

I bought a used '98 Seville with only 32,000. I like the way the car handles and the interior. The back could use a little room. I don't like the way the car virbrates because of the tires. A person at the dealership who is in the maintenance department told me the virbration was not bad compared to most Sevilles he has tested. He suggested getting Michelin tires to get much better handling and performance. The manufaturer really needs to work on that desgin flaw. Other than that I love the car.

The digial display. The interior and exterior design. The way the car handles.

Suggested Improvements

Move the park break. Put the cd player in the trunk. Improve balancing for tires. Tires has to be balanced too often. Find a way to remove all the cabling from under the seats. It really takes away from the car's ambience of being a luxury ride.

Handles great, hugs curves excellently, great pickup power & steady smooth highway driving. Looks brand new, shines like a mirror and the inside is inpeckable. Only has 27, 800 miles. Last year's mileage was 4,200!

BtB warranty expired in May 2002, the time on the warranty expired way before the mileage limit. This car has no BtB extended warranty.
