My Grandfather leased a 2007 Cadillac Escalade in Jun 06. He now wants to trade it in on a new truck, the lease was for 48 months! My question is what is going to happen once he tries to do this and could he trade the Caddy in and not lease the truck or does he has to lease itI think he wants to buy the truck outright! since you are a businessman I'm sure you would agree that the success or failure of Cadillac could be judged by the sales of the Escalade. You are critical of how cadillac developed the Escalade but you have not mentioned sales. But lately we have noticed that some of the GM cars are looking pretty impressive, namely the Cadillac CTS, Chevy Malibu, GMC Acadia, Saturn Vue, Saturn Outlook, Saturn Aura, Buick Enclave. I had a 1970 Escalade, ran like a dream but of course you don't get high mileage. Low in fact. The only problem I had was a pinhole leak in the a/c pipe going to the rear of the car. If kept running out of freon. Finally, I had the hole plugged and it worked great after that. I had a Cadillac Deville before that and it had 177,000 on it when I sold it and it ran like a dream too. ... Read More...

You need to read the original post again, the average buyer age data is from 2005 (the most recent that I can found) but the IS and CTS owner age breakdowns are for 2008 model. Even BMW, with their excellent 535i, has not announced plans to abandon the 550i. I also agree with pretty much everything you say but do no wait for BMW to announce dropping the V8 in the near term. They will continue to pay gaz guzzler taxes until the tax is so high actual buyers refuse to pay it. BMW will just pay the penalties as long as consumers support them. When ... Read More...

"I agree GM could do better in their Cadillac interiors......the XLR in particular the interior is dissapointing. " The XLR needs to be updated as does the STS to some degree. I like the CTS, DTS, Escalade and SRX interiors. They are very competitive with anything from MB or Lexus. The 2007 refresh of the SRX interior took it from worst in class to one of the best.
