Definetly get it checked out before you purchase a model. When it comes to the 2002 cadillac escalade seriously don't waist your time to many issues...possibly not at first when you buy it..but eventually you will be better off NOT buying a cadillac escalade!

I have followed the posts and threads on the undercarriage rust issue with GM. I own 2 Cadillac escalades. I purchased Escalade brand new in 2007 and another purchased in 2008 which I traded my 2002(also bought brand new) in for the brand new 2008. I also had a problem with the brakes on my 2002 Escalade. The front speed sensors get corroded by the salt that is put on the roads to melt the snow. They need to be taken out and cleaned or replaced with new ones. There is a recall, but for some reason the '02 Escalade is not on it, so you will have to pay for it yourself. I tried to ... Same thing happened to my 02 Escalade last year. Started with the humming sound, then would automatically break the front driver side tire by itself until I would tap the brake. James, I wouldn't say the Escalade is "so outdated" compared to it's rivals. The Escalade is a truck, built on a truck chassis. It has a wonderful towing capacity compared to the German, Swedish, Japanese rivals. What is so bad about the interior?? To me, most GM dash boards are "too" plasticy, which makes it look cheap. Chrome Grill

The chrome grill is screwed onto the existing grill, covering it almost completely. I don't know if it is a third party grill or a Cadillac option. Like I said, they added it on because of their mistake when putting on the gold trim, I didn't order it. I saw another one on a 2002 Escalade on the road the other day. The sales manager at Classic Cadillac in Atlanta has told me that the problem with the white paint on the 2002 Escalades has been resolved and all the white Escalades will now be produced. White really is pretty. I did drive one at Classic Cadillac yesterday.

I agree the new Escalade looks to be worlds apart from its predecessor. I do have a couple of nitpicks after reading Caddy's website. First, despite the new sound system and instrument cluster, the radio and climate control still looks like it's from the Tahoe/Yukon parts bin.
